Hi all
I have been looking for a game that I can make mod's for and when I found farming simulator I fell in love with it. There are a lot of things I need to look at but I have gotten my game art into a map so I am very happy. The learning curve does not look that bad for me because of other project I have worked on.
From what I have read about the Giants engine this looks like it is wide open to do what ever we can think of. I am now working on a prof of concept map to see what can be done with this software. I am looking at normal mapping and other options like this for this first basic map. After I understand every thing better I will start on a big American Farm.
I am looking to use Public Domain USGS Geographic Data for this farm so if any ones knows of a farm that they think is cool let me know where and I will pull the data and take a look at it. I will also have a website as a home for all the downloads. I can work on this full time so I think things will happen fast.
One Item on my wish list is an easy to use farm sign where a logo could be placed by the new user of the mod. The mod will be very clean and easy to install I have already tested enough to do this. The mod will come with a full set of install and usage documents.
I tend to get lost on the game farm but I have not been playing that long. How big should a farm be I know I want some big fields. I want to keep he poly count down so I am thinking about bill boarding some trees around the farm. I would also like a some what longer drive for the trucks to get to town.
What size should a good field be ? would 5 big fields be enough?
